Hotel in Old Town Square. We stayed in room 303, the best in the house, top floor overlooking the square (ask for it when you book). The staff are superb and the rooms spotless.

My boyfriend and I only stayed one night in Prague. I choose this hotel for the price & location and from reviews from this site and other sources and I have to say I was very happy with my choice.

The location was fantastic - with a brilliant view of the Old Town Square. As with other reviews, it was a little noisy but to be expected. The air-conditioner drowned out all the noise and we had a brilliant sleep. The room was superb and very clean. Absolutely no complaints.

The 24hr reception was very handy. My boyfriend went out at 4:30am to take photos around Prague at sunrise for an hr or two and the poor fellow at reception was there to let him in and out.

We didn't get down to Breakfast till 10am and it finished 10:30. The hot food had gone, so I can't really comment but what was left was perfectly adequate.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and wished we stayed for longer.

If you want an amazing dinner go to Pravda Restaurant, Old Town, Prague 1. The food and our particualr servicer was great. It’s is a little expensive (especially the wine) but well worth it if you are looking to treat yourself.

We stayed in room 203 at the Cerna Liska for 5 nights. The location, as others have already indicated is fantastic. Even though we overlooked the square we were not bothered by any outside noise when the double windows were closed. I don't know if an outside room would be a problem in the summer, but it definitely wan't a concern in April. The front desk clerk, Misha, was as helpful as any hotel staff member we have encountered on our many trips to Europe. She was patient and always gave us good information with extra little hints that made the trip special.
We liked the breakfast buffet which had a nice variety of foods. The hotel changed the hot offerings daily which is a welcome thing when you are staying for more than one or two days at a hotel.
We had dinner at small restaurants tucked away near the Old Town. They were inexpensive and seemed to have locals eating there. We liked Miejuice, Profasnice,Pizzeria Giovanni (which had a full Italian menu and not just pizza), and Kolkava. Our last night we went to a local folklore show that included dinner and transportation to and from the hotel. It was located in a garden on the outskirts of Prague. We also went to the black light theatre show and some music venues.
We had a private guide for the castle district and the lesser quarter. It cost around 600 czk per hour but the individual attention and information was nice. We took the group PragueWalker tour on communishm and it was very informative and definitely worth the 250 czk price. We went to the Jewish Quarter on our own which was fine, but do go early and start at the synagogue that leads into the Jewish Cemetary so you have a little time to yourselves before the large tour groups arrive.
We did take one tour outside of Prague to Karlstein with Martin Tours. It was fun, but be aware that when you arrive there you either have a choice of a long steep climb up the hill or taking a taxi or horse drawn cart up to the entrance. This is an extra cost but unless you are young and in shape it is a necessary expense. A lunch is included in the price and it was very good. To get to the hotel from the airport we used the Cedaz shuttle and the hotel arranged a taxi to the train station when we left.
In closing, the hotel is in a a fantastic location, the breakfast buffet is good, the staff is excellent, the rooms are large, clean, and comfortable, but the beds are very firm, and the Cerna Liska has free internet access in the reception room. I highly recommend the hotel and we will stay there again when we return to Prague.

After reading other reviews I decided to go with the Cerna Liska and I could not be happier. Never having been to Prague I didn't what area to stay in. I was deciding between Wenceslas Square or Stare Mesto (old town). Once I was in Prague and walked to Wenceslas Square I was glad that I didn't choose to stay there. The Cerna Liska is right on the square and our room overlooked it.
We arrived by overnight train from Krakow about 8AM and took a taxi from the Smichov station (320KC). I had emailed the hotel about 2 weeks before we left to ask them how to get to the hotel from the Smichov station as it is not the main station, but I didn't get an answer. So I just took a taxi. Our friendly taxi driver spoke a little English and tried telling us about the areas we were going through. Pointed out the castle and told us that's where the President lives, and so on. We arrived at the hotel before 8:30 but were able to check in right away.
We had a big room and the bathroom was a nice size. The beds are a little uncomfortable as the other reviewers mentioned, but we were there only 1 night so we didn't mind. It was warm during the day and we did put on the a/c and it worked fine.
The fellow working at the desk spoke English fine and answered all of our questions, but did not seem very friendly.

We took a taxi (700KC) to the airport as we had to leave at 5:30AM.
If I ever go back to Prague I would definitely stay here again.
