We stayed at the sunset inn for two days at the beginning and end of our honeymoon. The staff were helpful and friendly and upgraded us both times (for free) to a bigger suite than we had booked - one even had a jacuzzi bath in it!
The suites were comfortable, well furnished and clean (not to mention huge!) You had everything to suit every traveller - even an office chair and desk if you are away on business.
The hotel is well located next to Davie street (which is the Gay district in Vancouver). There are hundreds of restaurants on Davie Street to suit everyones budget and tastes. Although you are next to Davie Street it is still quiet though. You are also a 25 minute walk from the sea wall and English Bay.
We only have two criticisms of the hotel. The first was the breakfast. As long as you were there at 7 when they first put it in lobby for you to collect you are fine.... if you go much later than this there doesn't seem to be anything left! You do have a selection of cereals, cakes, bread and some orange juice for you to take back to your room to consume. The second criticism are the views from the balcony. They are a bit poor, but thats not the hotels fault! You are surrounded by 70's style buildings which aren't the most attractive thing to look at..... the inside of the rooms make up for the poor views though, so don't let that put you off.
We would definitely stay at this hotel again if we are ever fortunate enough to return to Vancouver.... thank you for helping make us feel so welcome.
